Bo Boyd joined Walker Eisenbraun, LLC in 2017 and began serving as a Partner in January of 2019. Bo’s professional experience blends seventeen years as a capital markets and general corporate attorney with ten years’ in-house experience as chief legal counsel.
In her tenure with us, Bo has been instrumental in shaping our firm as a boutique corporate firm, bringing practical and commercial approaches to complex corporate legal issues. In response to the evolving post-COVID legal landscape, characterized by an increase in virtual work among company executives, Bo extended this insight to the role of the general counsel, pioneering the establishment of a dedicated Outside General Counsel (OGC) practice group.
As a Partner, Bo leads the OGC practice, providing and managing legal expertise to numerous clients, both public and private, in a wide variety of industries. Bo actively manages a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including corporate and board governance, commercial transactions, employment matters, corporate strategy, operations, personnel, and risk management.
Bo serves as both a mentor and trusted advisor, guiding attorneys within the firm and offering valuable counsel to management teams and in-house attorneys of our client organizations. Her dedication extends beyond purely legal boundaries, aiding individuals in accounting and human resources roles to enhance their effectiveness in legal matters, cultivating talent across sectors and ensuring optimal company performance.
Before coming to Walker Eisenbraun, Bo made significant contributions as Senior Vice President of Law and Corporate Secretary at Energy XXI, a Houston-based exploration and development company. She began her career as an attorney at Jenkens & Gilchrist, P.C., where she practiced corporate and securities, real estate, and healthcare law.
Bo’s legal expertise is highlighted by her involvement in a range of significant OGC representations, including serving as outside general counsel to entities without in-house counsel, advising solo general counsels to publicly-traded and private equity-backed entities and supporting legal departments of multinational corporations.
Bo earned her Juris Doctor (magna cum laude) from the University of Houston Law Center in 1997 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas in 1993. She is an active member of various bar associations and professional networks, including the Association for Corporate Growth, Secured Finance Network, Houston and Texas Bar Associations, and more.
Bo is a proud fourth-generation Texas native and hopes to never live outside the State of Texas. However, she enjoys traveling internationally. As of last year, Bo has visited (and has experienced food poisoning) on all seven continents.
